Bitget in five lines
- Copy trading and futures are the heart of Bitget. The tools are good; the risks are real, and leverage can reach triple digits on some contracts.
- The MAD P2P market is thin. Most Moroccan users bring USDT bought elsewhere.
- Regulation: national registrations in Lithuania, Poland, Italy, Bulgaria and Czechia, a licence in Georgia, an AUSTRAC registration in Australia. No MiCA authorisation found and no Moroccan licence.
- A Protection Fund of about 5,500 BTC and monthly proof-of-reserves reports. The Bitget Wallet Card is not available in Morocco.
- Our rating: 4.0/5. Strong for experienced traders who use small sizes; a poor first exchange for a beginner.

Our verdict on Bitget for Moroccan users
Yes, but mainly for experienced traders. Moroccan residents can open and verify a Bitget account, yet the dirham P2P market is thin, there is no MiCA or Moroccan licence, and the flagship products, copy trading and futures, push users toward leverage. Beginners have simpler places to start.
Picture a 26-year-old developer in Casablanca’s Technopark who earns in dollars through Payoneer and already holds some USDT. He wants more than “buy and hold”, and someone in a Telegram group has shown him screenshots of a copy trader up 300% in a month. Screenshots like that often come from Bitget.
As software, Bitget is excellent. The app is fast, copy trading is easy to set up, the futures interface is clear and spot fees are standard. As a first exchange for someone in Morocco, it is a weaker choice. Its dirham P2P market is shallow, its licences are national registrations rather than a top-tier EU authorisation, and its flagship products push users toward leverage. We rate it 4.0/5: high marks for product and transparency on reserves, deductions for MAD access and for how easily a new user can lose money. Our scoring grid is explained on the how we review page.
Is Bitget available and legal in Morocco?
Bitget accepts Moroccan residents. Morocco is not on the restricted-country lists we checked, and we found no reports of Moroccan identity documents being refused at verification. That makes Bitget available, not licensed.
Here is where Bitget stands on regulation, based on the company’s announcements and press coverage. We could not open every regulator’s register, so treat the list as a summary and check the register itself before relying on it:
- EU countries: VASP registrations in Lithuania and Poland (2023), plus Italy’s OAM register, Bulgaria and the Czech Republic. Under MiCA, these national registrations only remain valid during transition periods.
- MiCA: at our latest check, trackers that read the ESMA register showed that Bitget had no MiCA authorisation; its EU entity has applied to Austria’s FMA, which Bitget confirmed in July 2026.CASP Tracker
- Elsewhere: a digital-asset licence in Georgia (Tbilisi Free Zone, 2025), registration with AUSTRAC in Australia, and a licence in El Salvador.
None of these covers Morocco. The 2017 Office des Changes statement still treats crypto transactions as a breach of exchange regulations, and draft law 42.25, which would let the AMMC license crypto providers, had still not been adopted at the time of writing. For the full picture, see our guide to whether crypto is legal in Morocco.
How does Bitget copy trading work?
Copy trading means you link part of your balance to an “elite trader” on Bitget, and every trade they open is mirrored in your account, in proportion to the amount you allocate. You pay the trader a share of profits, typically a percentage set on the trader’s profile.
The idea is attractive, and the implementation is good. The problem lies in what the leaderboard shows. Many top traders have short histories, and a dazzling 30-day return can come from one or two leveraged bets that worked. When the next bet fails, followers lose in proportion. Timing is imperfect too: if thousands of followers enter after the leader, the price may already have moved.
If you want to try it, a sensible routine looks like this:
- Start with spot copy tradingSpot copies buy and sell coins without leverage, so you cannot be liquidated.
- Read the trader’s full historyLook at the maximum drawdown and at least six months of results, not the last week.
- Allocate a small, fixed amountSomething you could lose without touching rent or family obligations.
- Set a stop on the copyBitget lets you stop copying after a set loss. Use it.
- Keep recordsDownload the trade history. You may need it to explain your funds later, as our guide to crypto tax and reporting in Morocco explains.
Futures and leverage: the part to handle with care
Bitget is primarily a derivatives exchange. Perpetual futures let you bet on price moves with borrowed money, and on major pairs leverage can go above 100x. At 50x, a 2% move against you is enough to lose the whole margin. Funding payments every few hours add a running cost.
The VOXEL episode of April 2025 is a useful reminder that risk is not only about price. On 20 April 2025 Bitget detected abnormal trading on its VOXEL/USDT perpetual contract, froze a group of accounts and reversed trades from a half-hour window. The exchange said other users were not affected and promised compensation from its Protection Fund, but some traders whose profitable trades were reversed complained publicly.Cointelegraph On any exchange, the operator writes the rules of its own derivatives market.
Our view is blunt: if you are new to crypto, do not start with futures, and do not copy futures traders. Nothing on this page is investment advice. Our guide to crypto scams in Morocco also covers fake “signal groups” that push people toward leveraged trades on Bitget and similar platforms.
Can you buy USDT with dirhams on Bitget?
Yes, but the market is thin. Bitget’s P2P section does list a MAD market: our latest check found only about ten USDT ads on each side, far fewer than on Binance, Bybit or OKX. Third-party comparisons describe few advertisers, mostly bank transfers, and only a few listings that accept cash networks such as Cash Plus or Wafacash.Datawallet
For context, on the same morning Binance showed about 610 USDT/MAD ads and OKX about 290. Buying prices sat around 10.34–10.40 MAD per USDT, roughly 6% above the aggregator dollar rate. A thinner market usually means fewer merchants at night and wider prices for larger orders.
Many Moroccan Bitget users take a two-step route: buy USDT on a deeper P2P market, then send it to Bitget on a cheap network such as TRON. Our P2P guide explains how to pick a merchant and avoid fake payment receipts, and the OKX review shows a market with more depth.
What are Bitget’s fees?
Bitget’s support pages list the standard rates. They change with VIP levels and promotions, so check the live fee schedule before you trade:
| Product | Maker | Taker | Discount |
|---|---|---|---|
| Spot | 0.10% | 0.10% | 0.08% if paid in BGB |
| USDT-M futures | 0.02% | 0.06% | by volume or BGB |
| P2P (MAD) | no visible fee | no visible fee | cost sits in the price |
| Copy trading | trader’s profit share | set per trader |
Withdrawals carry a network fee that depends on the chain. The fee that hurts most in practice is not on this table: it is the funding rate on leveraged positions held for days.
Protection Fund, reserves and security
Bitget set up its Protection Fund with a commitment of $300 million to cover user losses from hacks or system failures. It is held mainly in Bitcoin, so its dollar value moves with the market. Bitget reported an average of about $351 million in July 2026 and about $382 million in August 2026, with reports citing 5,500 BTC held.Bitget Earlier reports cited 6,500 BTC, and we found no explanation for the change.
Bitget also publishes monthly proof-of-reserves reports. For June 2026 it reported a total reserve ratio of 127%, with 121% for USDT. Those reports are useful, but they are snapshots prepared by the exchange and do not replace a full audit.
For your own security, turn on two-factor authentication, set an anti-phishing code and use an address whitelist for withdrawals. Bitget Wallet, the group’s self-custody app, is a separate product with its own seed phrase; read our wallet guide before you move savings there.
Keep trading balances small and store savings on a platform with clear licences, funded with crypto from P2P.

The Bitget Wallet Card, the group’s crypto debit card, was listed as not available for Morocco on the card tracker we consulted.Penchan There is therefore no Bitget card route for spending crypto in Morocco. Our guide to crypto cards in Morocco lists the few options that exist and their legal limits.
Bitget OTC serves trades from about $100,000 equivalent, according to a 2024 company announcement, with settlement in USD, EUR or GBP. Dirhams are not offered. A Moroccan client would need a foreign account and a clear legal basis to use it; the OTC guide covers that question.
Who should choose Bitget, and who should not
Bitget fits if
- You already hold USDT and trade actively
- You want polished copy-trading tools
- You value monthly proof-of-reserves reports
- You keep positions small and use stop-losses
Look elsewhere if
- You need a deep dirham P2P market
- You are buying crypto for the first time
- You want a MiCA-authorised exchange
- You hoped to use a crypto card in Morocco
If dirham access is your priority, Binance and OKX have deeper MAD order books; KuCoin, another futures-heavy platform, has an even thinner one, as our KuCoin review shows. If you want a home with long-standing licences for coins bought on P2P, CEX.IO has operated since 2013 and holds US money-transmitter licences and FinCEN registration; Moroccan card deposits are not available there, so you would fund it with crypto. FAQ
Is Bitget available in Morocco?
Yes. Morocco does not appear on the restricted lists we reviewed, and Moroccan residents can open and verify accounts. Bitget holds no Moroccan licence, because no such licence exists yet, and the 2017 Office des Changes position on crypto transactions still applies to residents.
Is Bitget regulated?
Bitget holds national registrations in several countries, including Lithuania, Poland, Italy (OAM), Bulgaria and the Czech Republic, a licence in Georgia and an AUSTRAC registration in Australia. When we last checked, trackers of the ESMA register did not list a MiCA authorisation; its EU application with Austria's FMA was reported as pending.
Is Bitget copy trading safe?
The software works, but copying a trader does not copy their skill. Past returns shown on leaderboards often come from short periods and high leverage. Losses on futures copy trades can be total. If you try it, use spot copy trading, small amounts and a stop-loss, and never borrow money to fund it.
Can I buy USDT with dirhams on Bitget?
Bitget has a MAD P2P section, but third-party comparisons describe it as thin, with few advertisers and only a handful of listings that accept cash networks. Many Moroccan users buy USDT on a deeper P2P market such as Binance or OKX and transfer it to Bitget.
What is the Bitget Protection Fund?
It is a reserve Bitget set up with a 300 million dollar commitment to cover user losses from security incidents. It is held mainly in Bitcoin, so its dollar value moves with the BTC price. Bitget reported an average value of about 382 million dollars in August 2026.
Does the Bitget Wallet Card work in Morocco?
No. The Bitget Wallet Card was listed as not available for Morocco on the card tracker we checked. Moroccan users who want to spend crypto have no Bitget card option for now. Our crypto card guide lists the few cards that trackers show as available in Morocco and explains their legal limits.
